This target business area focuses on enabling new scientific measurements to explore the solar system and to study the formation and evolution of planetary systems.
The primary needs include orbiting instruments and miniature instruments for:
- Landers applicable to Discovery-class missions to Mars and other planets, and
- Small- to medium-sized Earth orbital missions.
High-mobility rovers also are needed for future lander opportunities on the Moon, Mars, and the outer planets.
