INTERNAL RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (IRAD) PROGRAM

This is our annual funding program. Its purpose is to make Goddard more competitive, especially in areas where the Center can leverage external funding in the near term to gain a more competitive edge in the future.

We've aligned our investment areas with strategic science and mission-related challenges.

Other Goals

Another goal is to improve the skills of Goddard employees. Therefore, we discourage the funding of contractors to perform work on winning proposals.

Eligibility

Proposals must be responsive to one of the identified investment areas. Due to the competitive and sensitive nature of the content, only Goddard civil servant employees may submit proposals.

Award Amounts

We have no preset award amount; however, we select proposals for a single year and typically award between $100,00-$300,000 in procurement dollars, along with associated manpower or Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) resources.
